Hardcopy turns articles you save into a printed book. That needs a small amount of information about you, and nothing beyond it. This page says plainly what we hold and why.
What we store
- Your email address and name. The address identifies your account and is where sign-in links are sent. The name is printed on your books.
- What you save. The links you add, the files you upload, and the text and images we extract from them in order to typeset a book.
- Your delivery address, once you enter one, so a finished book can be posted to you.
- The books themselves — the print-ready PDFs we make for you, and a record of what went into each one.
What we do with it
We fetch the pages you save so their text can be reset in the book's typeface, assemble them into a PDF, and email you when a book is ready. We do not sell your information, we do not advertise to you, and we do not use what you save to build a profile of you.
Who else touches it
We run on services rather than our own machines, so a few companies necessarily process data on our behalf: Supabase stores the database and your files, Vercel runs the website, and Resend delivers our email. When you order a printed copy, the book's files and your delivery address go to the printer fulfilling it. Nobody else receives your data.
Sign-in
There are no passwords. Signing in sends a single-use link to your address, which is why the address has to be one you can reach.
Keeping and deleting
We keep what you save for as long as your account exists, because a book is built from it and you may want to reprint one. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your profile, your saved items, your uploads and your books. Email hello@hardcopy.press and we will confirm when it is done.
