Hardcopy is in beta and invite-only. These terms describe what you can expect from it and what we expect from you. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.
Your account
An invite is good for one account and one person. Sign-in links go to your email address, so anyone who can read your email can reach your account — keep it to yourself.
What you save
You are responsible for what you put in a book. Save things you are entitled to read, and use the books for yourself. A volume is a private compilation printed as a single copy for personal use — it is not for resale or redistribution, and every piece in it stays the property of whoever wrote and published it. Each is printed with its author, publication and original source alongside it. If you are the rights holder of something that has been printed and you would rather it were not, write to us and we will remove it.
We may decline to build a book, and remove anything we believe infringes someone else's rights or breaks the law.
Printing and delivery
Books are manufactured and posted by a third-party print-on-demand printer. Page counts, spine widths and delivery dates shown before a book is made are estimates — a book's real extent is only known once it has been typeset. Colour on a printed cover will not match a screen exactly; that is the nature of ink on uncoated paper.
While we are in beta
Things will break. Builds may fail, a page may not extract cleanly, and features will change without notice. We may pause or end the beta, and if we do we will give you a way to download the books you have already made before anything is removed.
What we do not promise
The service is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. If we get something badly wrong with a book you paid to have printed, tell us and we will put it right or refund it — which is the remedy we think is actually worth having.
Changes
When these terms change we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you by email if the change is one that matters.
